Significant Sig & Sigma Chi Foundation Treasurer John Koskinen, DUKE 1961, is stepping up to support the Washington Alumni Chapter and our local undergraduates in a major way.

In fall 2019, WAC created the Washington Alumni Chapter Scholarship through the Sigma Chi Foundation for the purpose of supporting the undergraduate chapters in the Eastern Province, representing the greater DC region. These chapters include:

  • American University
  • George Washington University
  • Georgetown University
  • George Mason University
  • Johns Hopkins University
  • University of Maryland
  • Towson University

To date, WAC has raised and donated over $12,000 to the Foundation toward the $25,000 commitment. Once the full amount is raised, the scholarship will disburse $1,000 per year to a qualified undergraduate applicant from the Eastern Province

Brother Koskinen has generously offered to match any donation made up to $6,500 for the Washington Alumni Chapter Scholarship. On why he made this offer, Brother Koskinen said, “If the alumni chapter can fund a scholarship through the Sigma Chi Foundation, it will send a positive message to our undergraduate brothers in the area about our lifetime commitment to the fraternity.”

Help us help our undergraduate brothers by making a donation to the scholarship fund. To do so:

  1. Visit the Foundation donation site.
  2. When the “Make a Designated Gift” form appears, click “*Where needed most” and select “Scholarship – Washington Alumni Chapter Scholarship” from the drop-down list. It should show “Designate to Scholarship – Washington…” once complete.
  3. Make your donation.
